The results finally of the allegations of irregularities with DeKalb County School’s construction contracts, in Pat Pope’s office, have finally been forwarded, to the district attorney’s office. The school system forwarded this review to the district attorney’s office and requested that “a few things” to be looked into, to make sure a criminal investigation was not necessary. The school system would not cite specifics because the investigation was still open and ongoing.
This story was mentioned in the Community Briefs in the Metro Atlanta Journal Constitution on Saturday, Feb. 21, 2009.
This is so sad. I recall that on December 6, Dr. Lewis said, "We'll know more next week." And to drag it out until nearly March is surely causing undue stress on Pope and her staff. I mean - did they ever give her back her computers or is she working from memory?
ReplyDeleteI have been so very impressed by her. I hope this is a wild goose chase and she ends up ok.
ReplyDeleteThose who have been on the receiving end of her rudeness, arrogance, and alleged "contract irregularities" would beg to differ with both of you.
ReplyDeleteHmmm - tell us more of what you know, Anon. Are we in the dark? I'm really upset that this has gone on for almost 3 months - these kinds of things really mess up progress. We need progress... Do you have any idea when this might get resolved so that this dark cloud can be removed and Pope's office can focus on the tasks at hand - cause they are big, important tasks.
ReplyDeleteWonder what this is about...

ReplyDeleteThe teacher's union is suppose to be sueing the school system on top of everything else.
Anonymous, I have heard this before but I have not seen it. You must be in a different situation from some of us. We just hear her speak at meetings.
ReplyDeleteOne of the topics for the meeting is NCLB. Maybe they've figured out that they may have to accept AYP transfers at Arabia after all.
